Tips for Frosting a 2-Layer Cake

  • Cool the cake layers completely; brush off any loose crumbs.

  • Place one layer, top side DOWN, on a plate.

  • Spread about 1/3 cup of frosting over the top.

  • Place second layer, top side UP, on the first layer.

  • Spread a very thin layer of frosting on the sides of the cake to seal any crumbs.

  • Spread the remaining frosting on the sides and top of the cake.

  • Add your Edible Tasty Print!

 

Edible Tasty Print Application Instructions

These instructions will come with your order!

Keep the plastic bag closed to keep your Edible Tasty Print fresh. Do not refrigerate.

The fastest, simplest way to use your Edible Tasty Prints is to purchase a ready-made cake, cupcakes, or cookies from your local grocery store or bakery.  If you choose to bake your cake, cupcakes, or cookies, frost them using white butter cream, purchased ready-to-spread frosting or melted white chocolate Nestles Toll House Morsels.  Whipped cream or non-dairy toppings are not recommended as they can cause the image to run and fade. Spread the frosting as smooth as possible.

Frosting on the cake, cupcakes, or cookies should be fresh, not dry.  If dry, moisten with a fine mist of water.  If using a previously frosted cake, cupcakes, or cookies that were frozen or refrigerated, allow the frosting to soften at room temperature for at least 10 minutes.


REMOVE your Edible Tasty Print from the PLASTIC BAG and set it out flat, at room temperature, for at least 10 minutes in drier climates, and up to 60 minutes in more humid climates. If you wish to trim the image on the sheet to fit on the cake, cupcakes, or cookies, do so as soon as it is removed from the bag.


REMOVE the Edible Tasty Print from the BACKING by pulling the backing down over a sharp table edge at the corners while keeping the Edible Tasty Print as straight as possible. If the Edible Tasty Print is not lifting off easily, allow it to sit longer to dry out. Do not let the image overdry or it may crack. If the image should tear, the pieces can still be placed on the cake and gently worked into place.   

If the Edible Tasty Print becomes dry or brittle, place a slightly damp paper towel inside the bag under the Edible Tasty Print. Seal the back and let rest for about an hour. DO NOT put the damp paper towel directly on the Edible Tasty Print.


POSITION the Edible Tasty Print on your cake, cupcakes, or cookies, lowering the middle of the image down on the cake, cupcakes, or cookies first. Wrinkles can be removed by gently patting them until they disappear. The edges of the Edible Tasty Print will meld into the frosting in a short time. You may also use a cake spatula to blend the edges into the frosting.


Your cake is now ready for the finishing touches!


Some simple piping can really make your Edible Tasty Print stand out!
